In June 2022, I visited one of my dream gardens, Wave Hill, in the Bronx., New York. I first fell in love with Wave Hill by reading Thomas Christopher’s book “Nature into Art: the Gardens of Wave Hill,” (Workman, 2019). I fell head over heels for the garden in person.
Wave Hill is a 28-acre urban oasis along the Hudson River. The views are spectacular. The variety of gardens is breathtaking ~ a dry garden with succulents and cacti, woodland gardens with hostas and heuchera, and perennials throughout.
The gardeners at Wave Hill scatter containers throughout the property. Most pots are terra cotta, and filled with all kinds of sedums, agaves, tropicals, succulents, annuals and perennials.
Following are some of my photos from my morning at Wave Hill. I hope to be back some day, and I hope you get to visit there, too.

As we headed to lunch after our private tour, the local Wave Hill fans entered the garden and found their favorite spots.
