I’m honored and excited to announce that I won a Silver Laurel Media Award from GardenComm International. The Laurel Media Awards are the premier program honoring excellence in horticultural communication.
My story “Floral Funding: Juneau’s Adopt-A-Flower program brings Blooms to Alaska’s capital city” appeared in the December 2024 issue of Greenhouse Management magazine. Thanks to editorial director Kelli Rodda for publishing this story and the generous folks of Juneau for sharing their passion for flowers with me.

About the Laurel Media Awards
GardenComm (Garden Communicators, International) is the professional organization for garden communicators. This year’s Gold and Silver Laurel winners represent outstanding achievements in digital media, photography, publishing, speaking and broadcast, writing, and marketing. This program special because Garden Comm members judge the awards. In other words, the best of the best are reading and critiquing. This story was a joy to pitch, research and write, and getting an award for it is, as they say, the cherry on top of the sundae.
