We are so lucky to live in the Atlanta area where spring comes early. Quite often in February, we’ll have afternoon temperatures in the 60s, warm enough to get outside and take care of those early spring gardening chores.
The weather doesn’t always cooperate, however, and a gardener’s attention must turn to indoor activities like diving into the stack of garden books and seed catalogs growing by your favorite chair with the good reading light beside it.
On those days, I plan my Garden Events like tours, plant sales and symposiums. Here are my picks for gardening events in the Atlanta area spring 2024:
February 2024
Georgia Native Plant Society Annual Symposium
February 24-25 Virtual event.
29th annual event focus is DIY Native Habitats — Build Your Stewardship Toolkit.
5 hours of programming over two days. Sessions recorded for future playback. GNPS is partnering with Birds Georgia to present the program. Cost for GNPS and Birds Georgia members is $12/day or $20 for both days. Non-member cost is $15/day or $25 for both days. Click to register.
2024 Atlanta Botanical Garden Flower Show
Friday, February 23-Sunday, February 25, 10 am-5 pm
This year’s theme is Primavera. Competitions in floral design, horticulture, photography and botanical arts. Displays of ikebana, the Japanese art of flowering arranging. In the garden, don’t miss “Orchid Daze.” Click for details.
