Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. I dreamed up A Cook and Her Books in 2009 as a place to document the recipes that I cooked for my family, and maybe to justify my burgeoning cookbook collection. Along the way, this little blog launched my writing career.
I started A Cook and Her Books with the purest of motives ~ I just wanted creative opportunities, a place to share recipes and stories. I never dreamed that my little blog would be a path to meet famous chefs and cookbook authors. And I couldn’t conceive of the idea that it would lead to my career writing about gardening for The Home Depot.
Blogging is a different world than it was in 2010. For starters, there are fewer bloggers, and far more influencers. It’s a crowded field, but if there’s a lesson I’ve learned in the past decade, it’s that I have my own voice and point of view.
A Cook and Her Books Reboot
A Cook and Her Books is about collaboration, connection and creativity. The 500+ stories on the old A Cook and Her Books were pretty much all written by me. I resisted many efforts by others to use my space for their words. I’ve changed my thinking on this. I will invite writers, photographers, cooks, gardeners, creatives, experts, interesting people to collaborate on this platform.
Connection is where we meet, and I want to hear what you think. The conversation for A Cook and Her Books takes place on Facebook and Instagram. I’ve disabled comments on the blog to cut down on spam and to encourage focused conversation. Thanks for your understanding ❤️.
Lastly, A Cook and Her Books is a venue for me to explore the topic of creativity. I’m interested in how folks come up with ideas, what inspires them, what they read, who they talk to, what gets them excited about whatever it is they do, especially if that happens to be in the kitchen or in the garden. And maybe by learning from others, I can bring a little creative inspiration into your world.
Thanks for joining me ~
