This is the year I get back to my favorite place: in a garden, any garden, anywhere.
Early in the year, I gathered my tribe of garden & travel writers, The Garden Trippers, and we crafted spreadsheets and plans to visit as many gardens as we could in 2022. Our first garden event was a favorite ~ the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s annual Flower Show that coincided with the Orchid Daze exhibit.
Orchid Daze & Atlanta Flower Show
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is home to one of the world’s largest orchid collections at the Fuqua Orchid Center. Its everyday collection is spectacular; and each February, thousands more colorful blooms are brought in for the Orchid Daze exhibit.
I gotta be honest here: I’m not an orchid expert. In fact, I have yet to achieve a long-term relationship growing orchids. However, I’m completely happy to visit orchids in gardens and appreciate the hard work of world-class horticulturists.
The Atlanta Flower Show is a biennial juried competition for horticulture, photography and floral design. The entries are always high-quality and inspirational.
Here are a few pictures from the GardenTrippers’ day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

Visit Atlanta Botanical Garden
Atlanta Botanical Garden is an oasis of botanical beauty in the heart of midtown Atlanta. Next time you’re in Atlanta, plan a few hours for the ABG. If your visit runs close to lunchtime, make reservations for Longleaf, the restaurant inside the garden. It’s a lovely, civilized place to relax and enjoy a meal and conversation with your companions.
