Georgia Master Gardener Conference Slated for October 2023

Georgia Master Gardeners annual conference will take place in Gainesville October 13 and 14, 2023. Hall County Master Gardeners will host the event at First Baptist Church in downtown Gainesville.

The conference is divided into 4 sessions with three featured speakers. There will be a breakout session where participants will choose from among 3 concurrent sessions. Expert presenters will provide inspiration, ideas and information on the theme “Beauty, Wildlife & Edibles.”

Speakers include:

-Marianne Willburn on “Big Dreams Small Garden”
-Diane Flynt on “Wild, Tamed, Lost Revived: The Surprising Story of Apples in the South”
-Odis Sisk, “Successful Gardening in Georgia Soils”
-Barb Jones, “Supporting Birds, Butterflies and Beyond”
-Mary Vargo, “Growing Cut Flowers & Using them in Arrangements”
-Carol Reese on “How to Love Weeds”

The event is open to gardeners of all experience levels. You don’t need to be a Master Gardener to attend.

The first conference day is Friday, October 13. Planned tours highlight a community garden, youth garden, nature preserve, bird walk and behind-the-scenes botanical garden tour. Friday evening’s event is a reception at Atlanta Botanical Garden Gainesville for light bites and beverages.

Saturday, October 14, events include the speakers. There will be informative booths, and vendors selling plants, art, tools and more.
