Spring is for planting and plant sales. Here are a few that are on my list for Spring 2023.
Plant sales take many forms. Some are mail order from nurseries, others are “extras” that gardeners dig up from their own gardens. Some are events that bring in nurseries that specialize in native plants.
No matter where you live, plant sales are great for beginner gardeners. It’s an opportunity to get plants that are likely to thrive in your area. (Of course, there’s a caveat to know what you grow. I’ve unwittingly purchased invasive plants from these kinds of sales). It’s also great to connect with experienced gardeners and growers who share their expertise.
Athens, Georgia
UGA Trial Garden Plant Sale. April 1, 2023 8 am – 1 pm
State Botanical Garden Plant Sale. April 15, 2023 8 am – 2 pm
UGA Horticultural Club Plant Sale. March 31 – April 2 and April 7 – April 9, 2023
9 am – 5 pm
Atlanta, Georgia
Trees Atlanta Native Plant Sale. March 10 – 26, 2023 online store open. Pickup March 31 – April 1. Saturday, April 8 On Site Plant Sale at The Carter Center, 8 am – 1 pm.
Oakland Cemetery. April 15, 2023 9 am – 1:30 pm (members presale is April 8). Register for your shopping time.
Atlanta Botanical Garden Gently Used Plant Sale. Includes orchids from Orchid Daze. April 13, 2023. Garden admission required.
North Fulton Master Gardener Plant Sale. Online sale ends April 4, 2023. Bulbs and rootstock will be shipped to your home.
Garden Faire, April 29, 2023, 9 am – 3 pm. The Grove at Wills Park in Alpharetta., Georgia. Plant sale, Ask a Master Gardener Booth, Vendors Market, Vintage “fleatique” sale. Sponsored by North Fulton Master Gardeners.
Soil Festival at Food Well Alliance, May 6, 2023, 11 am – 4 pm. Maddox Park. Fun, family-friendly event with farmers market, beer garden, music and compost giveaways. Workshops on composting, beekeeping and gardening.
Carroll County, Georgia
Mother’s Day Plant Sale. May 13, 9 am – 2 pm. Carroll County Ag Center.
Cobb County, Georgia
Cobb County Master Gardeners Plant Sale. April 21 – 22, 2023 10 am – 4 pm
Keep Smyrna Beautiful Garden Tour & Plant Sale. May 6, 2023 10 am – 4 pm.
Douglas County, Georgia
Douglas County Master Gardener Plant Sale. April 14-15, 2023 9 am – 6 pm
Paulding County, Georgia
Paulding County Master Gardener Plant Sale. May 6, 2023, 8 am – 1 pm
