Planter Feet for Pots

April 21, 2026 By Lucy Mercer Leave a Comment

I like the look of planters on my porch, but I don’t like the water stains that remain at summer’s end. For this reason, I like to elevate my pots.

Boosting the pots a couple inches helps me see when water runs out the bottom, as well.

You can buy fancy terra cotta and ceramic plant “feet” for your pots, or re-purpose items from around the garden. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Pavers

I keep stacks of pavers in corners of my landscape. They’re perfect for elevating planters both on porches and in the garden. Mine are left over from a patio project several years ago.

Plant Saucers

I have a collection of small terra cotta pots and saucers left over from a craft project. The pots are too small for most plants, so they’ve remained stacked on my potting bench until I found a way to repurpose the saucers.
